REVIEW OF THE TATAR-RUSSIAN-ENGLISH DICTIONARY BY Z. Z. GATIATULLINA

Abstract. The review provides a detailed characteristic of the Tatar-Russian-English dictionary at the level of macro- and microstructure. The dictionary is one of the first projects in the field of Tatar bilingual dictionaries and an excellent example of lexicographic thought, the result of the work of the whole team of specialists in the sphere of comparative philology, which at the end of the XX century became one of the leading directions of Kazan linguistic school. Doctor of Philology, Professor Z. Z. Gatiatullina was the ideological inspirer, pioneer in the field of Tatar-English lexicography. Basing on the Tatar-Russian dictionary by F. A. Ganiev and the Russian-Tatar school dictionary by M. I. Makhmutov, the authors expanded the body of the dictionary with English lexemes, phrases, idioms.
