PASSÉ COMPOSÉ VERSUS PRESENT PERFECT, PAST INDEFINITE: PHENOMENON OF DOUBLE EQUIVALENCE

Abstract.
The article examines the phenomenon of positive interference at the grammatical level in the interaction of different foreign-language systems. The semantic and grammatical comparative analysis of the passé composé tense-aspect form and its two English equivalents helps to identify their similarities and simultaneously to reveal the causes of the lack of full equivalence between them. The findings indicate that the semantics of the compared forms is determined by different verbal categories: tense in Past Indefinite, aspect and tense in Present Perfect, aspect and taxis in passé composé.
