Abstract.
The paper aims to develop a new approach to studying phraseological and paroemiological units of colloquial Spanish. The research material includes stories by the Spanish writer of the XX century Alonso Zamora Vicente. The researcher for the first time analyses functioning of idiomatic units in works of the mentioned author, whose name is almost unknown in Russia, presents translation of these idiomatic units, which constitutes scientific originality of the study. The research findings are as follows: the author proposes a different methodological approach to studying colloquial phraseological units, which is based on understanding the key axiological concepts of the Spanish ethno-linguistic worldview.
