Abstract.
The aim of the study is to classify the mistakes made when translating subtitles for audiovisual works. The article deals with the notions of audiovisual work and audiovisual translation based on the papers of domestic and foreign researchers. The scientific novelty lies in the development of a classification of mistakes in audiovisual translation (subtitling). As a result, the authors distinguish three main types of mistakes: technical, intertextual and general linguistic ones. The influence of these mistakes on the dynamic equivalence of the original and translated audiovisual works is analysed. The study was conducted by the material of the English-language TV series Heroes, Russian Doll and Love, Death and Robots, as well as their amateur translations.
