Abstract. The aim of this research is to identify the similarities and differences between the linguocultural concepts LIBERTY and FREEDOM. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that, for the first time, the integral and differential semantic components of the concepts LIBERTY and FREEDOM in the British and American varieties of English are identified. The paper analyzes the conceptual side of the linguocultural concepts LIBERTY and FREEDOM, namely, the meanings of the concepts LIBERTY and FREEDOM in lexicographic sources are studied; the semantic components of the concepts LIBERTY and FREEDOM are established; the core and peripheral semantic components of the concepts LIBERTY and FREEDOM are identified; the integral and differential semantic components of these concepts are determined; the results of the lexicographic analysis are formulated. The results obtained showed the presence of integral and differential components of the concepts LIBERTY and FREEDOM, the knowledge of which helps to understand more deeply the culture in which these concepts appear, and, as a result, to organize activities with representatives of such a culture more effectively.
