"New Humanism" of the 21st century in Julian Barnes's novel "The Sense of an Ending"

Abstract.
The aim of this research is to define the types and content of "new humanism" in the 21st century, as well as its interpretation in Julian Barnes's novel "The Sense of an Ending". The article examines the theoretical foundations of "new humanism" as an evolving cultural paradigm, encompassing ecological, democratic, technicist, political, academic, and neoclassical types of humanism. The key characteristics of each of these types and their correlation with the global processes of social, political, and philosophical transformation of modern society are analyzed. The scientific novelty of the research lies in identifying and systematizing the main types of "new humanism" of the 21st century, as well as in determining their structural and semantic characteristics in a literary text. For the first time, a comprehensive analysis of the concept of "new humanism" in Julian Barnes's novel "The Sense of an Ending" is carried out, taking into account its philosophical and literary contexts. As a result of the research, it has been established that the writer integrates the ideas of "new humanism" into the plot structure of the work, actualizing questions of memory, freedom, individual and collective responsibility, technological development, social justice, and ecology.
