Main linguistic processes forming English cryptocurrency terminology

Abstract.
The research aims to identify the linguistic processes shaping the terminology of cryptocurrencies in contemporary English, which has emerged and developed as a result of the rapid progress of blockchain technologies and financial innovations. The article describes the main methods of forming cryptocurrency terms, including morphological, syntactic, and non-morphological processes for creating new terms in the field under study. In the context of studying the linguistic processes of terminology metaphorization, the use of zoomorphic metaphors, the reinterpretation of general literary words, and intersystem borrowing are highlighted, which makes it possible to combine elements from various fields of knowledge for more effective communication and understanding in the field of cryptocurrencies. The scientific novelty of the research is due to the lack of a dedicated description of the composition of English virtual currency terminology. As a result of the structural-semantic analysis of terms, specific features operating in the field under study were identified, and factors shaping terms and terminology were revealed. The research aims to contribute to the development of a more effective system of cryptocurrency terminology at both national and international levels. The research found that the most common method of forming cryptocurrency terms is semantic processes of metaphorization, consisting of the reinterpretation of general literary words, intersystem borrowing, and the use of zoomorphisms. It was revealed that in the English-speaking environment, the morphological processes of forming cryptocurrency terminology require significantly less explanation than in other languages, and the knowledge of native English speakers about how words are structured allows them to easily discover and determine the optimal word-formation model. Terms formed through syntactic linguistic processes are mainly represented by two-component units, formed by combining a noun and a noun, an adjective and a noun. Non-morphological methods of forming terminology include initial abbreviations, acronyms, telescopic neologisms, and truncations.
