Abstract.
This publication is a translation of the first part of the monograph by Finnish researcher Elsa Enäjärvi-Haavio, titled “We Will Put Hand in Hand: On the Ways of Performing Finnish Folk Runes”, published in Finland in 1949. The translation was carried out by Maria Vladimirovna Kundozerova, Candidate in Philological Sciences, Senior Researcher at the Folklore and Literature Section (with the Audio Archive) of the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The book contains a detailed description of solemn male duet singing, which is traditional for the performance of runes in Karelia and Finland.
