Abstract.
The purpose of the study is to establish the structure of the speech genre of aviation investigation report based on an analysis of the core content field. The work was carried out on the material of US reports. The scholarly novelty of the research lies in the fact that this genre is identified and described for the first time in Russian academic literature. The study is based on the theory of speech genres, which states that any speech genre has a field structure. The paper identifies the main content components of the core of the speech genre field, which are associated with a specific combination of functions that distinguish the genre in question. This results in the identification of the hybrid nature of the genre, which combines elements of different types of texts with a three-part structure. This structure includes a fact-finding component (informational function) based on objective, detailed evidence; an analytical component (interpretative function), which establishes a cause-and-effect relationship; and a regulatory component (normative function), which offers safety recommendations and determines the probable cause. Based on an analysis of a corpus of reports, the close interconnection between these components is substantiated.
