Abstract.
The article addresses the problem of teaching substantivized adjectives and participles to international students of medical and biological profiles at basic and advanced proficiency levels in Russian as a foreign language (RFL) classes. The study aims to provide a scientific substantiation and develop grammar-oriented exercises for teaching international students the use of substantivized adjectives and participles in various types of speech activity. The article examines the phenomenon of substantivization within the history of linguistics and provides a working definition of the term. The difficulties encountered by learners during the study of this topic are described, and the features of how this linguistic material is presented in current RFL textbooks and manuals is analyzed. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the first systematic analysis of the substantivization of adjectives and participles as a specifically organized object of teaching Russian as a foreign language for students in medical and biological fields. As a result of the study, specialized exercises were developed, aimed at forming skills in identifying and utilizing substantivized adjectives and participles in speech among international students of medical and biological profiles.
