Abstract. The article is devoted to the consideration of the political criminal investigation methods: searches, selective arrests, spying, agent provocateurs' employment. The special attention is paid to perusal and its role in political criminal investigation. Perusal was used everywhere without any legal grounds as it was the only instrument to detect dissent and the reason to start inquest.
