POLITICAL FACTORS OF SOUTH CAUCASUS IDENTITY INSTITUTIONALIZATION

Abstract. The author considers the political factors of South Caucasus identity institutionalization, analyzes the main stages, domestic and foreign policy actors of the formation and development of identity in the region, reveals and substantiates that the armed conflict in South Ossetia in August 2008 contributed to the change of powers balance and the format of interstate relations in the region, and comes to the conclusion that the further formation of South Caucasus identity directly depends on the content of the external region environment, and the internal factors of regional identity institutionalization are still in the background.
