Abstract. The author discusses the understanding of the underlying processes that took place in the Russian violin performance art during the formation period, characterizes the concert halls of St. Petersburg and Moscow of the end of the XVIIIth century, considers the problem of musicians' concerts organization, and for the first time shows the influence of the conditions of violin performance existence on violin music genres formation and development in Russia.
