PHENOMENON OF DIRECTOR’S CONSCIOUSNESS IN VERDI’S CREATIVE WORK

Vorotyntsev Petr Il'ich
Russian State University for the Humanities

Abstract. The article analyzes the creative work of great Italian composer and theater figure Giuseppe Verdi. According to the author, Verdi’s methods were revolutionary for the musical theater of his ?poque. Verdi interpreted musical performance basing on the idea of integrity, imagined it only in the context of all parts unity (music, words, decorations, costumes, actor’s works). Verdi’s methods can be called the director’s ones. The author of the article consistently elaborates and proves the thesis that Verdi was not only a musician but also a director (although officially this profession did not exist in the era of Verdi).
