ESAIAS BOURSSE - FORGOTTEN DUTCH ARTIST OF THE XVII TH CENTURY

Abstract. The author, for the first time in the Russian historiography, studies the creative works of the Dutch artist of the XVII th century Esaias Boursse, substantiates the topicality and scientific novelty of this theme by its extremely weak elaboration in art criticism, determines the place of Boursse’s creative heritage in the general evolution of the Dutch painting, for the first time introduces a considerable part of the artist’s paintings into scientific circulation, and basing on their compositional analysis comes to the conclusion about the correspondence of Boursse’s stylistic devices to Amsterdam and Delft regional schools of painting, including the works by Jacobus Vrelo and Pieter de Hoch.
