RIOT AND TRADITIONS OF RUSSIAN POLITICAL CULTURE

Volkova Anna Vladimirovna
St. Petersburg State University

Abstract. The author defines riot as a traditional (archetypal) manifestation of national consciousness associated with the contradictory attitude of the Russians to freedom and state, law and justice. Protest tradition connects the latest phenomena of the Russian political life (the network forms of citizens’ protest activity organization) with the events and phenomena of social life in the early Russian history (local national riots). New features appear along with traditional ones in practice of the public expression of discontent within the framework of law-governed state in Russia.
Key words and phrases: протестное поведение, политическая культура, традиции, ценности, бунт, легитимация в общественном сознании, protest behaviour, political culture, traditions, values, riot, legitimation in public consciousness
