PRISING OF JUNE 17 1953 IN THE GERMAN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC AS STARTING POINT OF FORMING AND IMPLEMENTING "HISTORICAL POLICY" OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY

Abstract. The author considers the informational influence of the mass anti-authority actions of June 17 1953 in the German Democratic Republic on the social-political life of the Federal Republic of Germany. Several interpretations were developed in the course of the discussion of the events in East Germany by the West-German mass media. Some of them subsequently became a basis of the "historical policy" of West Germany and significantly changed the Germans’ attitude to their political history.
