SPECIFICS OF PRINCIPLE OF MONOTHEMATISM IN S. I. TANEYEV’S MUSIC

Abstract. The article is devoted to monothematism as one of the leading structural principles of S. I. Taneyev’s musical compositions. The paper presents the analysis of Taneyev’s monothematism in the context of the Russian melos and the European polyphonic school. The author emphasizes the typological similarity of the principle of monothematism typical for Taneyev’s music and the chant principle of the varied anaphora of echoes chant. Such an outlook broadens culturological context for studying Taneyev’s musical style, secures its understanding in the dialectical integrity of the West European and the Russian national centuries-old forms of artistic culture.
