SOCIOLOGICAL APPROACH TO HIJAB WEARING

Abstract. The article is devoted to the sociological understanding of hijab problem under modern conditions. Wearing of hijab is analyzed as an element of religiosity, confessional identity, as a construct of fashion communication, as a conflict provoking element, as a structural component of public opinion and consumption, as a cultural phenomenon of nostalgia, etc. The author also pays special attention to the historical, psychological, social and communicative aspects of the problem. The basic sociological approaches that allow describing hijab phenomenon adequately are revealed.
