Abstract. The article considers the main tendencies of the Russian intellectuals’ attitude to people’s culture during the process of original national culture construction. At the same time the originality of culture is revealed in ontological aspect, that’s why it is said about self-being. The author pays special attention to the idea that real progress is possible only in traditional, and not in revolutionary context.
