TIMOFEI SEMENOVICH SEMENOV AND THE MARI CULTURE OF THE END OF THE XIX CENTURY

Abstract. The article for the first time examines in detail the creative heritage of the educator of the Mari people Timofei Semenovich Semenov (1865-1907) in the context of the Mari culture. The paper also presents his biographical data. By the example of his activity the authors reveal some pages of the history of the Mari intellectuals of the XIX century, emphasize their role in studying the spiritual culture of the people and establishing cross-cultural dialogue.
