MUSIC "EXTRAVAGANCES" IN ART OF CINQUECENTO: ISSUES OF AESTHETICS, THEORY AND PRACTICE

Abstract. The article undertakes an attempt of the aesthetic justification of "extravagant" musical style in the court art of Cinquecento. In this regard the music-theoretical treatises of the XVI century representing the main trends of the musical practice of the time are studied. Special attention is paid to the evolution of musical thought during the late Renaissance stimulating the search for a new sound system. The author comes to the conclusions about the specificity of the functioning of new "exclusive" music of the XVI century, in particular, secular chromatic madrigals, "extravagant" music for the unevenly-tempered clavier.
