"MYSTERIOUS" MICRO-INTERVALS IN TREATISE BY FRANCISCO DE SALINAS

Abstract. The article is devoted to micro-interval theory by Francisco de Salinas. On the basis of the treatise "De musica" the author examines a sound system, in which octave is divided into more than twelve sounds. The researcher indicates reasons for the multilevel division of octave in the music of the late Renaissance and concludes on the specific of the functioning of micro-intervals in the West European musical art of the XVI century.
