Abstract. This article focuses on researching little-studied source data relating to the number evolution and ethnic composition of Soroki district population of Moldavia principality from the end of the XVI ^th till the beginning of the XIX ^th century. Such researches within this historical area bordering with Ukraine are of special scientific interest. The author concludes that in the XVIII ^th century within the aforesaid area the Moldovan population was majoritarian but the proportion of other ethnic groups’ representatives was quite noticeable.
