FROM ABSTRACTION TO IDEALIZATION: THE ITALIAN FUTURISM AND THE RUSSIAN CONSTRUCTIVISM IN COSTUME DESIGN OF THE FIRST THIRD OF THE XX CENTURY

Abstract. The article is devoted to the comparative analysis of the approaches of the representatives of the Italian futurism and the Russian avant-garde in the sphere of costume design of the first third of the XX century. Main attention is paid to the conceptions of tuta (combination of shirt and trousers with 4 pockets, 7 buttons on front stripe and simple collar) and working clothes, which were designed under the influence of different value systems, socio-cultural purposes and material and technical facilities. The author considers Thayaht’s clothes projects that considerably influenced the European fashion development but haven’t been sufficiently studied in the art criticism of our country.
