MICHAEL OAKESHOTT’S CONSERVATISM IN MODERN FOREIGN RESEARCHES

Abstract. In the article the system of the political and philosophical views of one of the most eminent conservative thinkers of Great Britain of the XX century, Michael Oakeshott, is analyzed. The author studies the works of modern foreign researchers on the British philosopher’s creativity and identifies a scope of themes, which are central in Oakeshott’s works: the theory of politics origin, the essence of conservatism, the role of the state in political process, the criticism of rationalism, the validation of historical knowledge status.
