RADICAL SALAFI MOVEMENT IN MORDOVIA: HISTORY OF ORIGIN, CONSEQUENCES OF ACTIVITY

Abstract. In the article the history of origin and the development of the radical Salafi movement within the territory of the Republic of Mordovia are considered. The author analyzes the factors, which influenced its origin, development and gradual extinction and also the geography of the settlement of the trend adherents and their present position. The role of the Muslim Religious Boards in counteraction to extremist views spread among the Muslims of Mordovia is researched.
