SOCIO-DEMOGRAPHIC DIMENSION OF EXISTENCE OF LONELINESS

Abstract. The article within the framework of existential approach in sociology investigates the phenomenon of loneliness. The paper contains the data of the author’s original investigations on the socio-demographic aspect of the social existence of loneliness. The author identifies the interaction between the level of experienced loneliness and the age and gender characteristics of the respondents. On the basis of the quantitative regularities testifying for a higher level of loneliness feeling among women and a tendency for the intensification of loneliness feeling among men with age, the researcher formulates sociological conclusions about the reasons of the mentioned regularities.
