Abstract. On the basis of the social-philosophical analysis of the sociological study data of 2013 the modern processes of the civil identity formation of the youth of South Siberia are considered. It is noted that in the conditions of modern sociocultural transformations the civil identity of the youth including stable state identification, developed political culture and civil self-consciousness is of fragmentary type. This opens up a possibility for the activization of alternative identities, which impede the formation of civil society in the region.
