Abstract. The authors suggest using "social construction of technology" as a methodology of the research of culture influence on the development of social networks. It occurs through social groups and public opinion about the risks of the technology; and traditional media have great influence on the formation of this opinion. A comparative analysis conducted by the authors allows considering the influence of cultural values in this element by the example of the American, Asian, European and Russian models of social networks.
