ORIGINS OF MUSICAL CULTURE IN NORILSK. NORILLAG (1935-1941)

Abstract. The article is devoted to the musical life of Norilsk in the first years of the construction of integrated iron-and-steel works. The activity of artistic groups and their genre range are considered. The repertoire consisted of opera, operetta, string, brass, jazz orchestras, choral music, and solo performance - vocal and instrumental. As a peculiarity of the creative life of Norilsk the formation of musical groups mainly from prisoners is shown. The role of concerts in the spiritual life of the town is estimated; the names of many musicians, who have played a significant role in the development of the musical culture of Norilsk, are presented.
