MISSIONARY ACTIVITY OF THE RUSSIAN ORTHODOX CHURCH IN THE YENISEI EPARCHY IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE XIX CENTURY (BY THE EXAMPLE OF BIOGRAPHY OF ARCHIMANDRITE MAKARII (SUSLOV))

Abstract. The authors describe the life and activity of the monk-priest Makarii (Suslov) and his fellow campaigners. Within the framework of the processes of the Christianization and Russification of the indigenous population of the Yenisei North the government tasks of the acculturation and catechization of the stated categories of the population were realized. The article is written on the basis of the study of archival materials and pre-revolutionary regional church periodicals, as well as personal sources.
