THE RENAISSANCE CULTURE: FROM ASCESIS TO PLEASURE PRINCIPLE

Abstract. The object of the study in this paper is the culture of the Renaissance as the distinct totality of pleasure strategies. This culture has not yet been considered from such perspective. The author sets a task to find the specific Renaissance objects and practices of pleasure. The Renaissance style of hedonism is analyzed. The researcher concludes that hedonism does not define the Renaissance culture in its entirety, and is one of the trends.
