"GOLDEN AGE" OF XYLOPHONE IN THE USA (HISTORICAL ASPECT)

Abstract. The article summarizes incomplete data collected by domestic and foreign researchers relating to the history of the occurrence of pitch percussion instruments. The areas of the distribution of the American xylophone predecessors are considered. The design activity of D. Degan is shown. The preconditions of the origin and decline of the "golden age" of xylophone in the United States are traced. The activity of the leading xylophonists of America is covered.
