GRAPHIC DESIGN IN THE CONTEXT OF ART CRITICISM

Abstract. The article shows that in the second half of the XX century graphic design becomes a multi-aspect problem of art criticism. The author justifies the thesis that the art analysis of the design graphics of the first half of the XX century was conducted by the similar means, which were used when studying art. The researcher proposes a contextual-historical approach as a means to find new artistic foundations of modern graphic (communicative) design.
