ATTITUDE OF THE NEOPLATONISTS OF THE III-VI CENTURIES TO THE NOTION "DUTY"

Zaitseva Irina Valer'evna
Belgorod Law Institute named after I. D. Putilin of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation

Abstract. The article for the first time carries out an analysis of views on the problem of human duty in works of the Neoplatonic philosophy school representatives of the III-VI centuries. In this context works of Iamblichus, Proclus Diodoh, Synesius, Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite, which have survived and partially reveal the Neoplatonists’ views on attitude to duty, are studied. The author concludes that ideas of the Neoplatonists about duty have a strictly syncretic character, as they assimilate ideas of philosophers of classical antiquity, the Hellenistic period, as well as the system of Christian values.
