ANTI-ALCOHOLIC ISSUE IN THE RUSSIAN STATE DUMA OF THE 3RD CONVOCATION

Abstract. The deputies of the Russian State Duma of the 3rd convocation (1907-1912) became interested in problems of struggle for temperance against the background of the anti-alcoholic campaign that was widely-spread in Russia at the beginning of the XX century. The purpose of this work is to analyse attitude of the Russian people’s representation to the problems of temperance and drunkenness in the country at the turn of the 1900-1910s. As a result, it was ascertained that the work of the Duma anti-alcoholic commission did not meet overall expectations of the Russian public, many of whom used temperance rhetoric to criticize the political regime.
