INTERPRETATION OF FOLKLORIC AND STYLE ELEMENTS IN N. MENZER’S ADAPTATIONS

Abstract. The analysis of style elements interaction in the system "composer - folklore" is a relevant research problem. The paper focuses on four adaptations, in which the marginal line between folkloric and the author’s original material is identified by the composer himself. The researcher characterizes the qualities of quotations - the samples of Far Eastern original amateur folklorism. At the level of musical expressiveness elements the paper shows the techniques to adapt the folkloric prototype in the author’s context. The study concludes on its bi-functional orientation - tendency to imitate and transform the quotations.
