PRIVATE STATISTICAL SURVEYS IN THE CONTEXT OF ACTIVITY OF REGIONAL STATISTICAL SERVICES (BY THE MATERIALS OF WESTERN SIBERIA OF THE XIX - THE BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY)

Abstract. The article on the basis of archival material and published sources examines statistical surveys that were conducted privately by certain employees within the framework of the activity of the regional statistical centers of Western Siberia in the XIX - at the beginning of the XX century. The poor functioning of the statistical committees motivated for organizing and conducting such type of surveys, the results of which took place in the provincial authorities’ practice. The materials of the private statistical surveys, being a supplement to the official statistics, promoted accumulating the information on the region in its development regarding the economy branches.
