"KOMSOMOL CHRISTMAS" OF 1923 IN THE DON REGION

Abstract. The article describes the anti-Christmas campaign of 1923 that was implemented by the Bolsheviks in the Don region within the framework of struggling with the Church. The author focuses on reconstructing the events associated with the "Komsomol Christmas" celebration. The analysis of the sources testified that the materials of the local periodical press - the newspapers "Soviet South" and "Labour Don" - provide the most detailed picture of the events of 1923 associated with the anti-Christmas campaign. "Komsomol Christmas" in the Don region involved the mockery of the church people’s feelings nevertheless the sources did not register any conflicts with them.
