Abstract. The article is devoted to the problem of forming "woman’s world" against the background of culture and everyday life of the Russian nobility. The author points out that under the forming system of woman’s education in Russia the book played an important role in the formation of the Russian young lady’s spiritual world. The paper analyzes the Russian noblewoman’s literary preferences, identifies the factors influencing the woman’s audience’s book choice and emphasizes the role of book in the origin of a new style of life, behaviour and the very image of a noblewoman.
