RIVALRY OF FRANCE AND SPAIN FOR POLITICAL INFLUENCE IN ITALY AT THE BEGINNING OF THE XVI CENTURY

Furtsev Roman Vital'evich
Moscow State Pedagogical University

Abstract. The beginning of the XVI century is marked by dramatic events in all Western Europe, but a special place in the history of this period belongs to the Apennine Peninsula, which became a field of battle between the key players of European policy. Italian wars did not bring a decisive victory to any of the sides and constantly came to a standstill due to changeable political conjuncture and the unstable staff of the confronting parties. The article analyzes the specificity of relations and contradictions between France and Spain regarding the Italian issue after the first stage of Italian wars.
