NETWORK AND DISTANCE LEARNING IN MODERN RUSSIA: DIFFERENCE IN CONCEPTS

Abstract. The modernization of the social institution of education has caused not only structural, but also instrumental changes in Russia. The spontaneous use of information and communication technologies in educational process and the lack of a unified terminological apparatus have led to the misunderstanding of the essence of new learning tools. The differences of interpretations and confusion as to categories interfere in modern educational process. The author, relying on the works of western scholars and the Russian legislation, reflects difference in the notions.
