CHINESE MERCANTILE COMMUNITY IN THE RUSSIAN FAR EAST IN 1858-1917

Abstract. The article is devoted to the peculiarities of the total flow of Chinese entrepreneurs in the Russian Far East in the pre-revolutionary period. The authors consider the main spheres and directions of the commercial activity of the Chinese in various parts of the Far East, the specificity of ethnic entrepreneurship in the conditions of the development of its territory. On the basis of Russian and Chinese sources the paper gives a general classification of the Chinese trading minority, enumerates the common and distinctive features of the Chinese community, makes conclusions about the significance of its activity.
