LANGUAGE AND MONEY: SEMIOTIC INTERPRETATION OF THE INSTITUTE OF MONEY

Abstract. The paper presents an approach that reveals the essence of money as a social institution closely connected with the language. The fundamentality of language in relation to social reality is illustrated by the example of monetary functions. The article reveals the semiotic nature of money, considers various approaches to the identification of the sense and meaning of banknotes. The conclusion is that money, being a special kind of the language system, forms institutional facts in the process of social communication.
