Maksimov Artur Igorevich
Bryansk State University named after Academician Ivan Georgiyevich Petrovsky

Abstract. The article discusses the problem of the transformation of the Polish policy of the Russian Empire in 1861-1864. The paper identifies the main factors that influenced the process of these changes, shows the role of Alexander II and the members of his inner circle in the formation of a new view of the processes that took place in the Kingdom of Poland. The author substantiates the position that the emperor’s will determined the vector of the development of policy in relation to Poland, but the formation of Alexander II’s ideas occurred under the influence of the people directly involved in the transformation process.
