Abstract. In the article the philosophical understanding of the essence of security of the person in the prism of research in the field of the national security theory is presented. Modern approaches to the understanding of the notion "security of the person" are considered. Security of the person is represented as a key sector (segment) of national security along with society and state security. The main directions of making the processes of ensuring the security of the person more effective are proposed.
