PROBLEM OF THE OTHER IN THE BOOK "THE SECOND SEX" BY SIMONE DE BEAUVOIR

Batsanova Sof'ya Vladimirovna
Belgorod State Technological University named after V. G. Shukhov

Abstract. The article examines the problem of formation of one of the key concepts of modern philosophy - the concept of the Other - in the emblematic for feminist philosophy book "The Second Sex" by Simone de Beauvoir. The book identifies relation between the key existentialist concept "freedom" and the need for the Other. The individual aware of his freedom develops his Ego in dialogue with the Other, but cultural and social practices typical for the traditional European society prevent the woman from doing it forming the image not of Ego but of prolonged infantile childishness elevated to the ideal.
