Abstract. The article provides a comparative analysis of axiological spheres of conservatism and liberalism. Relying on Richard Rorty’s postulate that modern social philosophy is based on universalistic Kantianism and relativistic Hegelianism the authors discover the interrelation of conservative and liberal value systems by analyzing the content of such basic values as "common good", "justice", "freedom", "individuality", "equality". The authors conclude that similarity and difference of liberalism and conservatism are foundation of their interaction and this possibility for a dialogue promotes adequate response to the challenges of modern civilization.
