AN ATTEMPT TO CREATE AN ANTI-SOVIET CLANDESTINE ORGANIZATION IN THE CORRECTIVE LABOUR CAMP IN 1958-1959

Abstract. The article describes an unknown but significant episode of the history of dissidence in the USSR - creation of an anti-Soviet clandestine organization in the corrective labour camp of Perm region at the end of the 1950s. The author analyzes the motives to create an illegal oppositional organization, purposes and methods of its activity, the organizers’ motivation, reaction of the state security bodies to dissidence. Micro-historical analysis methods allowed the author to make meaningful conclusions relying on the comparatively small and incomplete source basis - documents of a partially declassified criminal investigatory case prosecuted by Perm regional KGB Department. The publication adds an unknown and very dramatic episode to the history of dissidence in the USSR.
